BIOGRAPHY / SERVICES

Roy A. Balentine is a native of Weir, Mississippi. He holds a Bachelor of
Science degree in Elementary Education and a Master of Science degree in School Administration from Mississippi State University. His experience in the field of education includes 14 years as a teacher and administrator.

While serving as Principal of Pearl High School in Pearl, Mississippi, from 1997-2000, Roy and his staff experienced a life-altering event when a student gunman entered the school and killed two of his fellow students, and injured seven others. That experience, along with the subsequent shootings that have occurred around the nation, has led to his current involvement in the field of school violence and crisis management.

He serves as President of School Safety Consultants, LLC, a national school safety consulting firm. In that role, he travels extensively throughout the United States and Canada, speaking and conducting seminars and training.
Roy is available for keynotes, seminars, and workshops which provide fact-based information needed to increase sensitivity to the far-reaching effects of school violence. Specific topics include identification of warning signs, characteristics of safe schools, dealing with the media, crisis management, and the development of an effective crisis management plan.

In addition to his work with School Safety Consultants, Roy also offers services through Education Management Group, LLC. EMG specializes in the areas of Grant Writing, No Child Left Behind requirements, Security Assessments, Crisis Planning and Management, Homeland Security, Due Process/Disciplinary Hearings, Technology Assessment and Planning, and Professional Development Services.
